signing off from starbucks

Most of you didn't know that I worked as a part time Barista in Starbucks not long ago. Submitted my application form with my friend but he end up PPK me. Fine! I went through the interview and was hired. Started my first impression training on October and I just signing off few days ago.

Beginning stage is always the hardest. Don ever think that working in Starbucks is glamour. Bear in mind, you are in F&B line. Meaning to say that, not only making coffee, you have to clean the table, serve the customer, wash the dishes, preparing ingredient, mop the floor and throw rubbish. I am quite okay with these actually, not a big issue. However, some newcomers can't stand it, they quit on the next day. lol.

Another joyful working experience in my life. I am glad that I get to know coffee better and also my lovely partners (colleagues are called as partners in Starbucks). Everything is so systematic, the flow is smooth and One thing I find it interesting is that you can tell customer how you feel about the particular drinks or food, good or bad. Unlike in Switch, everything is so dead - facts.

Me in red apron and xmas hat =)

I can feel that Starbucks is really concern about their employees. I get to drink free coffee during work, entitle for staff discount for all merchandise, night shift allowances, triple pay on public holiday and so on. Relationship between partners is good (they will wave their hand and say hi to me whenever I step in the store). This can be hardly seen in Switch, not even a 'good morning' when you come to work.

Starbucks is good. I am leaving because of scheduling issues in my store. Somehow I don like the way my manager force me to work during my exam period. I don think it is an major issue in other store, they have flexible working hours :)
